Indie Life in Full Color – Blog Life isn't Black and White

Buy Prints… maybe?

As you probably know by now, I'm a photographer. I take a lot of pictures, maybe you take more... maybe not. However as being a photographer goes, if you actually care about what your photos look like you realize that probably 80 something percent just don't make the cut. I thought I'd give you guys some options out of my own favorites. Most, if not all, of my photos that are for sale are film photos (scanned negatives if that makes more sense).

Have a look. I'l update and add occasionally.

Here on my blog or here on RedBubble.

Impulsive camera buyer? I am!

So how excited were you when you read that The Impossible Project has finally developed color shade film? Yeah i wasn't that excited either, mainly because I didn't own a polaroid camera much less a SX-70.

First thing I did when I got on the computer, I went to their site and bought a pack of the color shade film! yay! I also got the 100 sx-70 film. I wanna be a pioneer, how can I resist a potential discount on future purchases?

total cost: $66
or really: $77 with shipping

Then... i hopped on over to Ebay... a daily activity of mine... looked for the least expensive, working, and decent looking SX-70 camera I could find.

Total cost: $85 (as long as it works what's it really matter)

Here's the real question... which will arrive sooner?

I’m used to plastic reels… 4 rolls of B&W

Four rolls of film developed today. B&W, proudly loaded the film on the annoying metal reels (without too much trouble), mixed the chemicals (basically) and developed the film by hand (can you develop B&W film in a machine anyway? well I wouldn't).

One old film from maybe April. I think from cape cod.

Roll from action sampler (didn't get a lot but that's ok)

Roll shot this weekend with Diana Mini (hope I can figure out how to align and scan that)

One more, just don't know what of. I'll let you guys know when I have some pictures scanned and up.

the polaroid dilemma – advice anyone?

it's a problem, it really is a problem. I love cameras, and I really just want to own every new camera I see or read about, but as usual that's not the point. I want to own a polaroid, I think that most photographers that have any interest in the analogue world really do want to own one. It's just my opinion though. Here's the other problem, I can't afford one, I mean who really can afford a pack of film that costs around $1 a picture or more. I like the route of a little less than $2 a roll of film (cheap B&W).

Let's pretend that's not a problem, which is a bad idea because if it wasn't I'd go out and get one or more of every type of polaroid camera. So let's say I can afford the film.

Do I go find some cheap working 600 camera?

Do I go find a not so cheap but probably better SX-70?

Do I go for a spectra camera (which i know nothing about)?

Do i go find a really cool film type 100 camera (fuji makes film in this case but the cameras aren't as new and it's the peel-apart film)? this could be if i decided to go for a polaroid holga back (holgaroid!)

There are probably other options out there also.

We'll see what happens.

Do you live to shoot?

If you're like me, which I assume you are since you've made it this far on the internet, you love some aspect of photography if not simply snapping away at everything around you. For me I love cameras, I love looking at cameras I love planning what camera to buy next, I love learning about all the thousands (or maybe just hundreds) of different types of cameras that are out there. Loving something like that is never enough, you have to share it with the world, at least I think so.

That's basically my goal, to share with the world the many different sides of photography, I'm still new to this so I can't really say i have a bias, film or digital, but who really is that interested in learning about new stuff. I like the old stuff, made new. I love to write about my experience with photography, though it's not all that exciting very often. I'll be entering a new life filled with photography and art (on an academic level) very soon and I'd love to share with all of you what my cameras and I can show you.

Lomography is a part of someone's life, hopefully, if the own more than a handful of cameras (though a handful would probably only be one camera). Share it with the world, those around you and those who live across the world that you'll probably never meet. if you live to shoot, you're a Lomographer, you don't need a holga, Diana or a LC-A, you just need film, passion, and persistence.

looking for buyer/swap/trade – Nikonos V

I'm looking for a buyer for a Nikonos V I bought a month or so ago. I'm not sure if there is anyone that would be interested in buying it but I thought I might as well put the idea out there. It really does work underwater. I haven't had much reason to use it though but I just couldn't help but buy it.

I'd also be interested in swapping with someone for another camera or cameras at a similar value.

I have it set at $250 which includes a set of replacement o-rings.

Pass this along to anyone that might be interested.

Here are some pictures I have. I'll get some more informative ones up soon. email me with any possible offers.

DIY macro lens modification – found video

Hey everyone, so as you probably know I really love analogue photography but one thing I might love more (at least at times) is macro photography. I might not be into the whole photographing insects or flowers aspect of it but I love getting up close and personal with all kinds of subjects. Here is a video I came across:

I just watched this video on another blog and at first I wasn't sure what was so special about this video. at the end I realized how amazing this modification was. If you switch from a canon EF-S camera to a full frame camera (ef) then that kit lens you originally got became a little more useless than you thought. Doing a modification like this would breathe new life into that relatively useless lens.

Here are some of my most recent macro photos that I've taken of my Nikonos V I should have more up soon I've got a few things I want to try out.

Something about it I’m missing

Out of all my nearly 2800 photos on Flickr, this one has the second most views. I can't really say for sure why, it's certainly not one of my favorites but it's okay. Just thought I'd share that with everyone out there

16_14A

This is number one, I like it a lot more.
